Samiro Yunoki
Samiro Yunoki was born in Tokyo in 1922. He enrolled in the Department of Aesthetics and Art History within the Faculty of Letters at the Imperial University of Tokyo, and in 1946 he began working at the Ohara Museum of Art, where he encountered Soetsu Yanagi's "Mingei" Japanese folk crafts. This inspired him to give up his job and study under Keisuke Serizawa to become a dye artist. In 1972 he became a professor at the Joshibi University of Art and Design, and in 1987 he was appointed president. His work has been shown in exhibitions and displays at numerous museums both in Japan and abroad.
