Mario Botta
Born in Ticino in 1943, he began his career as an architect alongside Carlo Scarpa, Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn.
From his early detached houses in Ticino to the Maison du Livre, de l'Image et du Son in Villeurbanne, and on to the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, his architectural language has been described as "simple, archaic, timeless, built from the bare evidence of intense sensations" (F. Chaslin).
