Richard Hutten

Richard Hutten (1967). Influential Dutch designer since founding his own studio in 1991. One of the key figures who helped Droog Design make waves from 1993 onwards. A contemporary of Piet Hein Eek and Hella Jongerius. Playfulness is for him an important pillar of Culture. His designs often refer to the Homo Ludens. He works in both furniture design and interior design. As of 2025, he works for companies in 16 countries. His works can be found in countless museums around the world. In Asia, Hutten even enjoys cult status. Thoughtful simplicity as well as humour are recurring hallmarks of his designs. Since 2008 he has also been creative director of Gispen.
