Design by Giulio Iacchetti

Coppa Camuna is a tribute to the age-old steel-working industry of Northern Italy. Designer Giulio Iacchetti emphasises that the current design of bowls is the result of thousands of years of small adjustments by countless anonymous craftsmen. The product is turned, forged, brushed with beeswax, and cooled. The resemblance to a helmet is not entirely coincidental. Giulio Iacchetti traded an old soldier's helmet, which served as a plant pot in a school, for a terracotta piece, and let the history of the old helmet sink in. The raw steel bowl departs from the utilitarian purpose of helmets in wartime and instead proposes a new function: containing the essentials of life, not the heads of soldiers. Coppa Camuna is therefore, besides a piece of craftsmanship, also a symbol of peace.
