Through painstaking contemplation, medieval thinkers tried to discover the laws governing the position of each leaf on a tree. It was the leaves, in their effort to attain the greatest possible exposure to sunlight, that encouraged the trunk to grow higher and the branches to reach further out. Ultimately, the disposition of its parts was determined by the tree's overall need for balance, resulting in absolutely unique organisms. No two trees are alike.
The game of LOS TABURETES (The Stools) is subject to the same kinds of laws that determine the forms of trees. They have to be piled up in order to form the shaft of the trunk, a solid spine. The tree top should spread out as much as it can, reaching upward but not losing its balance. The result is always different, yet always harmonious. In playing this game we play to become a tree, we think like a tree, we grow like a tree "“ we use the instinct and natural intelligence of human beings without behaving like them. And somehow we are still different from this plant life, and we are able to enjoy the results in very different ways. Perhaps part of it lies in having reverted, if only for a moment, to being primitive creatures again.

Javier Bermejo
Javier Bermejo and his brother Miguel studied Arts & Crafts together in Madrid. They then returned to their home town of Lubián, Zamora, where they began producing an ancient Sumerian game dating back 4,500 years (the Royal Game of Ur). Alongside beautiful wooden classics, they also create the imaginative Ludus Ludi series. They collaborate with numerous artisan workshops across Spain and provide employment for people with disabilities.

Items in stock are usually dispatched within 1–2 working days. You'll receive a track & trace as soon as your parcel is on its way. Should an item just happen to be out of stock, we'll let you know when the new delivery arrives. We receive fresh shipments from Italy every week, so the wait is normally max 8 days. We always keep a close eye on availability and expected delivery times.
We offer free delivery within the Netherlands on orders over €65. Below this amount, a fixed contribution applies, which you'll see at checkout. For orders shipped abroad, separate rates apply; these are calculated at checkout once you enter your address. If an item differs from standard dimensions or weight, the delivery charge may be higher. We never apply this without checking first: we'll always contact you beforehand and only ship once you've given your approval.
Of course. Please do so as soon as possible. Feel free to call or email us. The item must of course be returned unused and in its original packaging. We do not offer approval shipments with free returns. We trust you'll understand.
Yes. We supply only genuine Alessi products, sourced directly through official channels. We have been a dedicated Alessi dealer since 1990. Every item arrives in its original Alessi packaging and carries the Alessi brand engraving.
Yes, we'd be happy to. Just let us know when placing your order and we'll gift wrap the item for you. .. Please note: if items may be wrapped together, such as baubles, do let us know as well. During busy periods this makes a considerable difference to processing times.
